Kobe's Gold Prizm Sells for $1.11 Million — and That's "Under Expectations"
The 2012 Panini Prizm Gold Kobe Bryant — numbered to just 10, graded BGS 9.5 — hammered at $1.11 million on Alt last week. That's up from $156,000 in August 2022, and yet it landed about $82,000 under Alt's estimate, likely because centering kept it out of a 10 holder.
Here's the part that gets me: it's not a rookie, not an autograph, no game-worn patch. Just scarcity, gold, and the Black Mamba. The same auction saw Stephen Curry's Gold Prizm from the set reach $1.695 million — this set keeps rewriting what modern cards can do.
Gold Prizms are setting the weather for Kobe's whole market right now. Worth a read with Kobe's name in the headlines — our own Kobe is in the Fanatics Collect auction closing October 18.
