A Kobe card just did $4.2 million. The 2017 Panini Flawless Logoman Autograph 1/1 — PSA 9 with a 10 autograph — changed hands in a reported private sale on October 28, topping Sports Illustrated's weekly countdown. The backstory is almost as good as the price: the same card was bought out of China for $1.7 million in August 2025, and after this sale it's reportedly heading back to China. That's a $2.5 million round trip in fifteen months. One note of honesty: Card Ladder says the sale hasn't been verified by its research team yet, so treat the number as reported, not gospel.
LeBron took second: his 2008 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection patch autograph 1/1 sold for $700,800 at ALT despite a PSA 6 grade. When the card is the only one in the world, the number on the slab stops mattering much.
The rest of the five is a Mantle sandwich: a 1960 Topps Mantle PSA 9 at $237,900, a 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 8 (OC) at $390,877 — the off-center qualifier priced it like a mid-grade copy instead of the $1.83 million a clean 8 brought in June — and an Ohtani Bowman Chrome gold rookie auto /50 at $288,000.
Two basketball 1/1s at the top of the week's sales, in the same October that just became the hobby's first billion-dollar month. The high end isn't cooling off — it's broadening.
