A Flagg Card That Doesn't Exist Yet Just Sold for $2.16 Million
The winning bidder paid $2.16 million for a card that has not been printed.
Lot 13 of Fanatics Collect's October Premier Auction was an unscratched redemption for Cooper Flagg's 1-of-1 Topps Motif Rookie Relic Autographs Logoman card. Forty-eight bids took it to $2.16 million including buyer's premium. The listing photo is a mockup. What the buyer owns today is Topps' promise: a player-worn NBA Logoman patch paired with an on-card autograph, produced later, redeemed through Topps, and delivered into the buyer's Fanatics vault.
Context matters here. This is not the Flagg record — his Rookie Debut Patch Auto brought $8.04 million in September. This is a second, separate seven-figure Flagg card, from a different product, sold before it physically exists. Two data points make a pattern: the market for Flagg's best cards is deep enough to clear $2 million on faith in a redemption.
The product angle is worth noting too. 2025-26 Topps Motif is the first NBA-licensed release under the Motif name, positioned as one of the season's top-tier products — and its single biggest chase card just validated that positioning at auction. When a set's headline 1/1 performs like this, the whole product's gravity rises: boxes, break slots, and the singles underneath it all get repriced by association.
Our take: redemptions used to trade at a discount for the wait and the risk. At the very top of the market, that discount is gone — scarcity plus a name is enough, even when the card is still a rendering.
